Just Cruising

The weather in October has been absolutely fantastic! This is pretty typical of fall weather in Oxnard. The Santa Ana wind comes in October and November, and we enjoy warm, dry weather and glassy ocean conditions.

Here are Gigi (photo above) and Christine (photo below) with Mandalay Bay and Shell Island in the background. We're cruising around the Harbor and having fun.

Builders dredged out the harbor and built this new section of Mandalay Bay (back bay of Channel Islands Harbor) just for us to have a fun place to hang out. It is right in our backyard, and we love it. We're amazed because just a couple of years ago, this was all strawberry fields. Map (below) is a pre-construction rendering of the area, and it doesn't show the prominade too well. Basically, we can ride our bikes all around both islands and in front of the two marinas and shopping center on the prominade.

I have gone on a bike ride with Christine and Gigi. It is always a fun trip. These two will take you for a work out. Wish I was there.

Lisa, the real workout was using that four-wheel surrey. Remember how we broke it, then had to push it uphill over the bridge? ...Love ya, sis!

I love your Tiki bike! Are they expensive?

Beth, you have got to check out these bikes (like mine) made by a company in North San Diego County. Here is a link to their website: www.electrabike.com. They have so many C-O-O-L models. Each is unique. My bike is the Tiki model, and they don't make it anymore. I have ridden the heck out of it, and I keep it in my patio. We are a half a block from the ocean, so everything here rusts pretty quickly. Even so, I get so many complements on my bike. It has a leather seat with a tiki man, leather hand grips with tiki man, etc. It has old-school type foot brake, and three gears. I added the back rack and the basket. I have so much fun with this bike. If I ever buy another bike, I will buy another one from Electra. They are really nice bikes.

Beth... one more thing about Electra Bike... They have a beach cruiser named the "Gigi." They named it after me because I am so famous! Check it out!
